Obituary of F. George Brown

NAGS HEAD, NC F. GEORGE BROWN, 77, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003 in the Outer Banks Hospital. Born and raised in Bridgeport, CT, George served in WWII in the U.S. Navy. Active in Connecticut politics, he was Alderman for the City of Bridgeport, as well as later serving as the Connecticut State Tax Commissioner. George worked many years for Edison Electric Institute, first in New York City and then in Washington, DC. Upon retirement, he relocated to the Outer Banks and worked in real estate for 10 years. George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sally; his four children, Doug Brown and his wife, Bonnie of Kill Devil Hills, Debbie Brown of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Pam Robertson of Kill Devil Hills, and Martha Thomas and her husband, Billy of Kitty Hawk; and five grandchildren, Frieda and Lucy Brown, Danny and Matthew Robertson, and Kevin Thomas. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 5, 2003 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Kitty Hawk, at 10:00 am. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Funeral Home, Manteo on Thursday, December 4, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
