Obituary of Helen Johnson

EC Johnson Helen Manning Johnson Native of Martin County, NC Helen Manning Johnson, age 97, of 1700 West Ehringhaus Street, Elizabeth City, NC, died Saturday, December 6, 2003 at Winslow Memorial Nursing Home. She was born in Martin County, NC, daughter of the late Frank Winston and Lula Capps Johnson and was the widow of George Herman Manning. She was a retired nurses aid for Albemarle Hospital and Winslow Memorial Nursing Home and was a member of The Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Johnson is survived by a daughter, Lois Hines and husband Charles of Elizabeth City, NC; two sons, George H. Manning, Jr. of Tarboro, NC, and Carl Wayne Manning and wife Nancy of Tarboro, NC; a sister, Louise Dunn of Ocean View, VA; a brother, Lance Johnson of Oak City, NC; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean M. Glassie and a brother, Henry Johnson. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at 2:00 PM in Oak City Cemetery, in Oak City, NC, with Pastor Claude Steen officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 and at other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hines, 903 Parsonage Street Ext.
