Obituary of Horace Sawyer

EC Sawyer Horace Edison Sawyer Native of Camden County, NC Horace Edison Sawyer, age 76, of 645 Highway North 343, Camden, NC, died Monday, December 6, 2004 at Albemarle Hospital, after a long illness with Lymphoma. He was born in Camden County, NC, husband of Alice Bartlett Sawyer of the residence, and the son of the late Willoughby ‘Wib’ and Alice S. Sawyer. Mr. Sawyer was a retired farmer and member of Sawyer’s Creek Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, his hobbies included his yard and flowers, as well as he was a avid hunter. Besides his wife, Mr. Sawyer is survived by two daughters, Jan S. Cartwright and husband Eddie of South Mills, NC, and Julie S. Blizzard and husband Jon of Camden, NC; two sons, Wade H. Sawyer and wife Karen of Camden, NC, and Walt E. Sawyer of Burlington, NC; a sister, Ruby Smithson of Elizabeth City, NC; three brothers, Elwood Sawyer and wife Geraldean , Joseph Sawyer, and W.L. Sawyer, Jr. and wife Brenda all of Camden, NC; eight grandchildren, Josh Sawyer, Madi Sawyer, Jordan Sawyer, Brett Sawyer, Kristin Cartwright, Katlin Cartwright, Owen Blizzard, and Carley Blizzard, and a sister-in-law, Sue Brothers. Besides his parents, Mr. Sawyer was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Sawyer, a brother-in-law, Carlton Smithson, and a sister-in-law, Jean Sawyer. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 9, 2004 at 11:00 am in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James Stamey officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the service the family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral homes and at other times at the residence.
