Obituary of Retha White

Retha M. White Chesapeake ‘ Retha Mae Carlisle White, 75, died Monday, December 13, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. White was a an active member of Grandy Assembly of God Church and the Women’s Ministry for over 23 years. She was the widow of Jesse Layburn White Jr. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Woods and her husband Jerry of Va. Beach; one son, Roy Sawyer and his wife Elfrieda of Germany; one sister, Mildred Vanhorn of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Natasha Allen, Sandy Detig, Christina Sawyer, Roy Sawyer III and Peter Kemp; four great grandchildren, Anna, Melissa, Sophia and Mya. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Grandy Assembly of God Church, Grandy, NC with Rev. Douglas Harn officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Memorial Gardens with Rev. Fredrick Dixon officiating. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake on Wednesday from 7:00 until 8:00 pm and at the church following interment services. Mrs. White was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
