Obituary of James Alton Pierce

James Alton Pierce, 90, of 138 Woodville Road, Hertford, NC, died at his residence on Friday, December 17, 2004. A native of Perquimans County, he was the son of the late Arthur and Nina White Pierce, and widower of Margaret Rebecca Campbell Pierce. He was a World War II Veteran and had received a Bronze Star. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and a member of Woodville Baptist Church. Mr. Pierce is survived by: one step-daughter Virginia Leloudis and husband James of Raleigh, NC, two step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one son Larry Pierce. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, December 20, 2004 in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel on Church Street, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends following the service in the lobby of the funeral home. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
