Obituary of Edward Goodwin

Powells Point, NC Edward Lewis Goodwin, 79, died Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at an Elizabeth City medical facility. Mr. Goodwin was born in Nichols, NY and was a retired Navy radioman, a radio and television repairman and worked at Seascape Security. He was a member of the Dare County Radio Control Flyers Club and Ham Radio Operator. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and worked in the Pacific as a Radioman and Gunner and Catalina ‘Black Cat’ flying boats. Mr. Goodwin was the son of the late Walter Lewis Goodwin and the late Lena Pearl Mills Goodwin and the husband of Ada Mae Wright Goodwin of the home. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Melody Demarest and Michelle Suri both of North Carolina and Melissa Alphonse of Minnesota; six sons, Roby Goodwin and Danny Goodwin both of New Jersey, Steve Goodwin of Pennsylvania, David Goodwin of Washington, Timmy Goodwin of California and Chris Goodwin of North Carolina; one sister, Junia Oakley of New York; one brother, Charles Goodwin of New York and thirteen grandchildren. A Visitation will be held at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo, Monday, December 29, 2003 at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at the Nichols Cemetery in Nichols, NY at a later date.
