Obituary of Jean Berry

Jean Layden Berry, age 73, of 507 Harvest Point Road, Weeksville, NC, died Saturday, December 27, 2003, at Albemarle Hospital. Born in Perquimans County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Mary Harris Layden, and was the wife of Edgar Y. Berry of the residence. She was a retired nurse and a member of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church. Besides her husband, Mrs. Berry is survived by: one daughter Cindy B. Lowry and husband Kent of Elizabeth City, NC; one sister Mary Burgess Williams of Camden, NC; one brother Ralph Layden of Hertford, NC; and two grandchildren Ashton and Cade Lowry. A graveside service will be held conducted Monday, December 29, 2003 at 2:00 PM, in New Hollywood Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Robert Crisp. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lowry, 1566 Sound Neck Road, Elizabeth City, NC. Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is in charge of arrangements.
