Obituary of Ruth Pierce

EC PIERCE Hertford, NC Ruth Hurdle Pierce, age 93, of 155 Gibson Road, Hertford, NC, died Friday, January 7, 2005 in Brian Center Nursing Home, Hertford, NC. She was born in Perquimans County, NC, daughter of Jessie Hurdle and Sarah Russell Hurdle, and was wife of the late Willie Pierce who died August 21, 1967. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia P. Davenport and her husband, Eugene of Hertford, NC; one daughter in law, Evelyn B. Pierce, of Tilghman, MD; one brother, Mather Hurdle of Elizabeth City, NC; three grandchildren, Crystal P. McKinnion, Donna P. Baynard, and Willie Curtis Pierce, Jr.; six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Willie C. Pierce; two sisters, Sudie H. Boyce and Jennie H. Stallings; four brothers, Fenton, Willard, Robert, and Rothie Hurdle. A funeral service will be Monday, January 10, 2005 in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. William Clements, and Rev. Dustin Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral home immediately following the service. At other times the family will be at the home of the daughter, Patricia Davenport, 155 Gibson Road, Hertford, NC 27944.
