Obituary of Walter A. “Butch” Kinney

WALTER ALLEN ‘BUTCH’ KINNEY, 54, of Kitty Hawk, NC died Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at his residence.
‘Butch’ was a man who loved the outdoors and all the creatures in it. Many orphaned animals found good and loving homes through Butch’s effort. He had a strong interest in environmental problems. As a master carpenter by trade, he took great pride in his work. In his early life he enjoyed music and was a member of several bands, sports, like motocross, surfing, fishing and later, boating, photography, cycling and culinary arts. He was a volunteer at Britthaven of the Outer Banks and a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. Butch is survived by his wife: Patricia Williams Kinney of the home, his mother: Marjorie Kirchdoerfer Kinney of Wilmington, Delaware; his sister: Shirley Haldas of Wilmington, Delaware; his brothers: Kenneth Kinney and Carl D. Kinney both of Middletown, Delaware; nieces and nephews: Christopher Haldas, Carl D. Kinney, Jr, Heather Kinney and Alise Kinney. Mr. Kinney was pre-deceased by his father Carl Edward Kinney. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially Patricia, his wife of 28 years, Valentino, Daisey, Ming, Tama and Diva.
A Celebration of Life will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at 3:30 pm with Rev. Tom Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Southern Shores Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, 40 Pintail Dr., Southern Shores, NC 27949, Dare County SPCA, POB 1000, Manteo, NC 27954, or to the National Surfrider Foundation, POB 6010, San Clemente, CA 92674-6010.
