Obituary of Emily Sheely

Emily Lassiter Sheely Native of Potecasi, NC Emily Lassiter Sheely, age 79, of 1011 West Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, died Sunday, January 9, 2005 at Albemarle Hospital. She was born in Potecasi, NC, wife of Raymond M. ‘Buddy’ Sheely of the residence, and the daughter of the late Arthur Lloyd and Josie Parker Lassiter. Mrs. Sheely was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir for over forty years, a member of the altar guild, a past circle leader for the United Methodist Women, taught church sponsored kindergarten, a graduate of Meredith College, a docent for the Museum of the Albemarle, and a member of the North Carolina Museum of History Associates. Besides her husband, Mrs. Sheely is survived by three daughters, Martha C. Sheely, Laura J. Sheely, and Betsy Sheely Pfenning and husband Tim all of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Josie Lassiter Hill and husband Bob of Murfreesboro, NC. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 2:00 pm in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. T. R. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery.
