Obituary of Donald Sweeney

EC Sweeney Donald Ross ‘Danny’ Sweeney Resident of Norfolk, VA Donald Ross ‘Danny’ Sweeney, age 52, of 3701 Mississippi Ave., Norfolk, VA, died Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Hampton, VA. He was born in Hialeah, Fl, son of John M. Sweeney of Elizabeth City, NC, and the late Ann Murphy Sweeney. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a former employee of Swift Garage, Norfolk, VA, and was a Protestant. Besides his father, Mr. Sweeney is survived by two sisters, Patricia Long of Dadeville, AL, and Kathy Hannah and husband Emmett of Akron, PA; a brother, John Sweeney and wife Linda of South Mills, NC; a step mother Maxine Morrisette Sweeney of Elizabeth City, NC; and a ‘special thanks to J. Fred Williams for all you have done and for being such a good friend.’ Besides his mother, Mr. Sweeney is preceded in death by a brother, Michael Murphy Sweeney. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 11:00 am in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Charles McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery. Following the service the family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral home and at other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Sweeney, 112 East Main Street, Elizabeth City, NC.
