Louis Selig Bell, Jr., 82, formerly of N. Griffin Street, Elizabeth City, NC, died Thursday, January 20, 2005, in Guardian Care Nursing Home. He was a native of Washington, NC, son of the late Louis S. Bell, Sr., and Allie Rives Parker Bell, and was husband of the late Virginia Lee Commander Bell. Mr. Bell served in the US Navy during World War II, and was a retired Field Auditor for the NC Department of Revenue, a member of First United Methodist Church and former Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Eureka Masonic Lodge #317 AF & AM of Elizabeth City, Sudan Shriners, New Bern, NC, and BPO Elks Lodge # 856 of Elizabeth City.
He is survived by one daughter, Betty B. Hughes of Raleigh, NC; one sister, Allie Rives B. Hartman of Albany, OR; two grandchildren, Virginia Ida Hughes and Bradley Cletus Hughes both of Raleigh, NC. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward P. Bell and Bill Bell and two sisters Minnie B. Jennings and Eloise Bell.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P. M. Sunday, January 23, 2005, in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, with the Rev. T. R. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery with masonic rites rendered by Eureka Masonic Lodge # 317 A. F. & A. M.
The family will join friends Saturday evening from 5:30 P. M. to 7:00 P. M. at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, and following the funeral service in the funeral home lobby.
