Obituary of Claughton M. Gray

HATTERAS, NC CLAUGHTON MILLER GRAY, 77, of Hatteras, NC died Saturday, January 22, 2005 in a Norfolk, Va. hospital. Mr. Gray, born in Hatteras, was a retired cook for Texaco Oil Company. He was a veteran, having served with the US Army in Germany during WWII and was a member of Hatteras United Methodist Church. Mr. Gray was the son of the late Ralph William and Thelma Austin Gray. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Aleta Austin Gray of the residence; three daughters, Chyrel Austin of Chesapeake, VA, Kathy Robinson and Kim Aycock, both of Hatteras, NC; two sisters, Gwenie Evans of Hatteras, NC and Sandra Basnett of Frisco, NC; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Little Grove United Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Charles Mosely and Rev. Jim Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Island Chapel, Hatteras on Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, POB 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058. Twiford’s Island Chapel, Hatteras is assisting the family with arrangements.
