Obituary of John Edward Roby

HARBINGER, NC JOHN EDWARD ROBY, 66, of Harbinger, NC died Monday, January 24, 2005 in Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, NC. Mr. Roby was born in St. Mary’s, Ohio. He was the son of Ralph and Eleanor Roby. After more than 30 years of service with the Defense Logistics Agency, he retired to the Outer Banks of North Carolina with his wife, Nancy in 1995. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed all the outdoor activities the area has to offer. He enjoyed boating and fishing, was an avid golfer and a computer enthusiast. He was a member of Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, where he was Knight of the Year in 1969. Mr. Roby is survived by his wife, Nancy Lou Kinninger Roby of the residence; a daughter, Cathy Buck and husband, Chris of Richmond, VA; three sons, Jeff Roby and wife, Becky of Richmond, VA, Greg Roby and wife, Carol of Ellicott City, MD and Mark Roby of Alexandria, VA; a sister, Martha Boehmer and husband, Jim of St. Mary’s, OH, and Donald Roby and wife, Toni of Solomons Island, MD; and seven grandchildren, Erin , Kyle and Laurey Buck, Emma and Jessica Roby, and Dana and Ethan Roby. Funeral Services will be held at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church, Kitty Hawk, NC on Friday, January 28, 2005 at 10:00 am with Father Bill Walsh officiating. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, Memorial Processing, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
