Obituary of Caddie “Rossie” Shoemaker

BUXTON, NC CADDIE URIAS GASKINS SHOEMAKER, 85, of Buxton, NC passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2005. She was a wonderful woman who cherished and loved her family. Rossie worked in the Newport Theater as a young woman and also owned and operated the Old Virginia Ham Shop in Norfolk, VA for many years. She was loved by her family and community and will be dearly missed. Left to cherish her precious memory is her daughter, Deborah Etheridge of Buxton, NC; sister, Rebecca Burrus of Virginia Beach, VA; her grandchildren, Sebring Rockefeller and wife, Rhonda Rockefeller of Virginia Beach, VA, Kristen Parrino and husband, Warren Parrino of Birmingham, AL; five great-grandchildren, Alexandria Rockefeller, John Rockefeller, Robert Rockefeller, Mitchell Parrino, and Carter Parrino. Rossie was preceded in death by her husband, Al Shoemaker. Funeral services will be held at the Buxton United Methodist Church on Friday, January 28, 2005 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dwight Burrus and Rev. Charles Moseley officiating. Burial will take place in the Gaskins Family Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Kathleen Gaskins at 47516 Rocky Rollinson Road, Buxton. Twiford’s Island Chapel, Hatteras is assisting the family with arrangements.
