Obituary of Jean Wilson

Jean Harris Wilson, 77, 437 Weight Station Road of the Chapanoke community of Hertford, North Carolina, went home to be with her Lord after a long illness on February 5, 2005. Mrs. Wilson was born on March 18, 1927 in Weeksville, North Carolina. She lived most of her life in Chapanoke with her husband, James Crawford Wilson whom she had been married to for 48 years. Mrs. Wilson devoted more than 30 years to the nursing profession as she served many of those years as the Director of Nurses at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City. Her whole life was devoted to helping others, family and friends, as well as being actively involved in Oak Grove United Methodist Church until her illness. She is survived by her husband James Crawford Wilson of Chapanoke; two sons; James Crawford Wilson Jr. of Plant City, Florida, and Timothy Harris Wilson and Joy Rose Wilson of Raliegh; Three grandchildren, Ashley Wilson, Mandy Wilson, and Andrew Wilson. Mrs. Wilson is survived by three brothers, Preston Harris of Roper, N.C., Donnie Paul Harris and Bobby Harris, both of Weeksville, NC. and two sisters, Doris Leedom of Jacksonville, Florida; and Patricia Ann Kiewert of Goldsboro, NC The family would like to thank the primary caregivers, Doris Holly and Barbara Johnson Parker for the many years of wonderful care which they gave Mrs. Wilson. Funeral services will be at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC , Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at 1:00 PM with the Rev. George Fox and Rev. Dustin Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, February 7, 2005 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM and at other times at the residence.
