Obituary of Elsie Nixon

Elsie Meads Nixon, 87, former resident of Nixonton Road Elizabeth City, NC passed away on February 6, 2005 at the Carolina House Elizabeth City. Mrs. Nixon was born on September 18,1917 in Pasquotank County, she was the daughter of Elihu and Allie Morris Meads. She was a homemaker and also an former employee of J.C. Penny and a long time member of the Mt. Herman United Methodist Church. Mrs. Nixon is survived by a daughter, Dianne N. Watts and her husband, Charles of Elizabeth City, NC; one son Michael Nixon and his wife Cindy of Blythewood, South Carolina; a sister Lena M. Parker of Elizabeth City, five grandchildren, Candee Cooper, Michelle Johnson, Brandon Dail, Ressa Nixon, Ricky Nixon, and four great grand children. Mrs. Nixon was preceded in death by her husband, Alphonso Nixon; a grandson, Michael Alan Nixon; one brother, Walter J. Meads; and a sister, Margie M. Jones. Funeral services will be at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Haywood Gillikin. Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery, the family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral home following the service, and at other times at the home of the daughter, at 1863 Nixonton Road Elizabeth City, NC.
