Obituary of Grace Maland

EC MALAND Currituck, NC Grace McDonough Maland, age 83, died Tuesday morning February 15, 2005 in Sentara Nursing Center, Barco, NC. Born in North Irwin, PA, she received her nursing degree in 1942 from Mercy Hospital and attended Duquesne University, both in Pittsburgh, PA. She joined the Army Air Corps during the Second World War as a nurse and was stationed in Greensboro, NC, where she met and married her husband. They lived for many years in New Hyde Park, NY, and then in New Port Richey, FL. While a resident at Sentara, She attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Elizabeth City, NC. Mrs. Maland was the widow of Einar R. Maland. Survivors include two daughters, Jane Maland of Durham, NC, and Ellen Maland of Arlington, VA, and two sons, Tim Maland of Reno, Nevada and Mark Maland of Elizabeth City, NC, as well as four grandchildren. A third son, Don Maland, predeceased her. A private funeral ceremony will be held at a later date. Twiford’s Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
