Obituary of Edith Harris

ELIZABETH CITY, NC HARRIS Edith Duke Harris, 94, of 1607 Rochelle Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Saturday February 19, 2005, at Winslow Nursing Home. Mrs. Harris was born in Beaufort County, Bath, NC, and was the daughter of the late William Hilton Duke and Dell Neal Duke. She was preceded in death by her husband J. Allen Harris in 1972. Mrs. Harris was a retired seamstress. Survivors include, one daughter Clara H. Sawyer of Elizabeth City, NC, one sister Daphne Duke Spencer of Swan Quarter, NC and one granddaughter Carol Spencer Ritter and her husband William Mac Ritter of Kitty Hawk, NC. A funeral graveside service will be held Wednesday February 23, 2005, at 11:00 A. M. at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, NC with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. The family will join friends at the home of her daughter, at 1607 Rochelle Drive, Elizabeth City, NC. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, c/o P. O. Box 402, Elizabeth City, NC 27907-0402.
