Obituary of Arbra Asbell

Elizabeth City, NC Asbell Arbra Elisha Asbell, 85, of 1011 Kris Drive, Elizabeth, NC, died Saturday February 19, 2005, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Asbell was born in Chowan County, and was the son of the late Alton Elisha Asbell and Alberta Asbell. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served during World War II, he was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church and the Men’s Bible Class, and a retired ship fitter with Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Members of the Men’s Bible Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, DeLorain Copeland Asbell, two daughters Gloria P. Oates of Virginia Beach, VA and Sandra K. Williams of Waynesville, OH, two sons Arbra D. Asbell of Elizabeth City, NC and Harold D. Asbell of Jacksonville, NC. one sister Annie A. Chappell of Tyner, NC. eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and seven great-greatgrandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2005, at 10:30 A. M. from the Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, with Dr. Roy L. Head officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P. M. at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens in Chesapeake, VA. The family will join friends Monday evening from 7:00 P. M. to 8:30 P. M. at Twiford Funeral Home, 405 East Church Street, and following the funeral service.
