Obituary of Hugh McChesney

Cary, NC Hugh Sharpe McChesney, 90, formerly of Manteo, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at a medical facility in Raleigh. Mr. McChesney was born in Kingstree, SC and retired from being an owner/operator of television sales and service. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict and was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. Mr. McChesney was the son of the late Rev. Paul S. and Julia Blanche Townsend McChesney and the husband of Alice Midgett McChesney of the home. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Julia Stoddard of Cary, Susan Lackey of Houston, TX; one son Webb Etheridge of Scottsdale, AZ; two grandchildren, Matthew and Adam Stoddard. A celebration of life will be held at the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church on Friday, March 4, 2005 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jerry Cribb officiating. Burial will take place in the Manteo Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Twiford’s Funeral Home, Manteo, on Thursday, March 3, 2005 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo, is assisting the family with these arrangements.
