Obituary of Lucy Gibbs

MANNS HARBOR, NC LUCY BRATTEN MIDGETTE GIBBS, 82, of Manns Harbor, NC died Friday, March 4, 2005 in a Nags Head nursing home. Mrs. Gibbs, born in East Lake, NC, was a retired hairdresser and also worked for 20 years with the Shipwreck. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Women’s Club. She was the daughter of the late James Henderson and Lillie Mae Pinner Bratten. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Claude Gaither Midgette and her second husband William Franklin Gibbs. Mrs. Gibbs is survived by two sons, Claude Midgette and wife, Susan of Alto, MI and Billy Midgette and wife, Phyllis Ann of Manns Harbor, NC; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church on Monday, March 7, 2005 at 11:00 am with Rev. Debbie Grossman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Funeral Home, Manteo, on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Women’s Club, POB 95, Manns Harbor, NC 27953. Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements.
