Obituary of Mary Ann Frost
With sorrow and regret, we announce the death of Mary Ann Dozier Frost. Mary Ann was born and raised in Blackwater, Va. – old Princess Anne County – fell in love with the late John “Arnie” Frost, eloped, and raised five beautiful children in Great Bridge: Frances F. Redford, the late Lillian, the late John “Buddy”, Junior, Elizabeth Ann and Jeryl Frost. They gave her six grandchildren, Milton, Hunter, Wrenn, Susan, David and Nathan, who all called her Nanny. The only daughter of the late Mary Love and “Jack” Dozier, she was the sister-in-law of “Pete” and Lettie Dozier and “Auntie” to their children, Linda and Randy. Mary Ann loved golf and was a charter member of the Metro Golf Association and former member of Kempsville Country Club and Stumpy Lake Ladies Golf Association. Her love of golf and competition spurred her interest in professional and college sports as well as the sports played and enjoyed by her family and grandchildren, including tennis, little league and high school baseball and wrestling. At any time, one of them could call her for winners, losers, scores and of course the Redskins results. In addition to sports, she enjoyed spending time with her friends playing bridge. She kept two things at her side – the TV remote and her portable phone. They were her life-line and joy and kept her connected to her family and friends of whom she had many as well as six great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Connor, Nicholas, Christopher, Alexa and Cutter. Nanny will be truly missed. We love you Nanny. Visitation will be at Twiford’s Funeral Home today between 4 and 6 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Blackwater Cemetery on Saturday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Mary Ann asked that donations be sent to the Leukemia Society.
