Obituary of Marie Guard

MARIE DOZIER GUARD Native of Currituck County, NC Marie Dozier Guard, 90, of Currituck, NC died Friday, March 04, 2005, in the Sentara Leigh General Hospital. She was born in Currituck County, NC to the late Ambrose and Nell Swain Dozier and was the widow of the late Milburn A. Guard. Mrs. Guard was retired president of the M. A. Guard Oil Company, a member and former Sunday School teacher at Pilmoor Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Home Demonstration Club. She is survived by two sisters, Gay Stidham Day and Carole M. Large and husband Wilfred all of Virginia Beach, VA; two grandchildren, Earleen Williams and husband, Paul of Hertford, NC and Annette Williams and husband, Herbert of Edenton, NC; four great grandchildren. Also, surviving are several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Guard was preceded in death by a son, Milburn A. Guard, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 7, 2005, at 2:00pm in the Pilmoor Memorial United Methodist Church by Rev. Scott Wilson-Parsons. The family will receive friends and relatives in the church’s social hall immediately following the funeral service. A graveside service will be held in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, VA, Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at 11:00am.
