Obituary of McDonald Clark
MANTEO, NC
McDONALD CLARK, 92, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Clark was born in Harbinger, NC on July 28, 1912. He had resided in Manteo for over 60 years. Mr. Clark came to Dare County, NC to work with his uncle, who owned the Roanoke Ferry Service until the state took over. He worked as a Captain in the Ferry Division until his retirement in 1976, from the NC Dept. of Transportation. After retirement, he worked as a driver for Daniels Oil Company. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
Mr. Clark was the son of the late James E. Clark and the late Geneva Melson Clark and was the widower of the late Mabel Davenport Clark. He was also preceded in death by a brother, J.E. Clark, a son, Donald Ray Clark and two sisters, Louise Alligood and Lucy Mae Clark.
Mr. Clark is survived by his daughter, Geneva Clark of Manteo, NC; five grandchildren, Carol, Gerald, James and David Clark of South Carolina and Daniel Clark of Maryland; one great-grandchild, Michael, also of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews and countless cousins.
Funeral service will be held at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 11:00 am with Rev. Jerry Cribb officiating. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, NC at 3:00 pm.
