Thelma McDaniel Ward
Thelma McDaniel Ward, age 89, of 112 Powers Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Thursday, April 7, 2005, in Autumn Care Nursing Home, Nashville, NC. She was a native of Norfolk, VA, daughter of the late Henry Franklin McDaniel and Frances Eldridge McDaniel. She was the widow of Edison Powers Ward, Sr. She was an elder and secretary for Cann Memorial Presbyterian Church for 19 years, a Past Matron Elizabeth City Chapter #44, Order of the Eastern Star, and secretary for 54 years.
She is survived by two sons, Edison Powers Ward, Jr., and his wife Sandra of Elizabeth City, NC, Lynn Randall Ward and his wife Ellen of Nashville, NC; a daughter in law, Deborah Wilson Ward of Raleigh, NC; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Thomas Lee Ward.
A funeral service will be Sunday, April 10, 2005, at 2:30 PM in Cann Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Leigh Gillis, Pastor and Jeff Heath, Pastor Emeritus officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel.
