Obituary of James Edge

EC EDGE Moyock, NC James Norwood Edge James Norwood Edge, 85, of 209 Puddin Ridge Road, Moyock, NC, died Thursday April 14, 2005. He was born October 23, 1919 in Cumberland County, NC, the son of E.J. Edge and Lila Van Hair Edge. Graduated with honors from North Carolina State University in 1940. Served in World War II in the 78th Lightning Division. He was in the Battle of the Bulge and the crossing of the Remagen Bridge. He is survived by his wife Cora Leigh Scott Edge. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Also surviving four children, James N. Edge, Jr. of Norfolk, VA, Dalton S. Edge and his wife Beverly, of Chesapeake, VA, the Rev. John W. Edge and his wife Faye, of Spring Hope, NC, Anne Edge Dale and her husband Roland of Engelhard, NC; Five grandchildren, John Edge, Kimberly Edge, Kelli Edge Beaty and her husband Joshua, Martha Van Dale, Laura Elizabeth Dale; One great grandson, Jonathan Edge, one step grandson, Jeff Dale, two step granddaughters, Rhonda Dale Newman and her husband Dell, and Wendy Dale Rose and her husband, Todd, four step grandchildren, Brandon and Steven Rose, Taylor and Rylie Newman; two sisters, Mary Helen Edge of Pinehurst, NC, Elizabeth E. Johnson of Fayetteville, NC; two brothers, E. J. Edge, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC, and Robert Harold Edge of Hope Mills, NC. He was predeceased by two brothers, Malcolm Weathersby Edge and Joseph Lenwood Edge. A funeral service will be Sunday, April 17, 2005 at 3:00 PM in Moyock Baptist Church with the Rev. Vic Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Moyock Cemetery. The family will be at the residence 209 Puddin Ridge Road, Moyock, NC.
