Obituary of George Markham Jr.

George L. Markham Jr. Chesapeake ‘ George Lister Markham Jr. died Friday, April 15, 2005. Mr. Markham was born in Elizabeth City, NC to the late George and Elisa Markham. Mr. Markham was a veteran having served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend. Mr. and wife Markham had attended UNC ‘ Chapel Hill and enjoyed following the N.C. Tar Heels. Survivors include two sons, George Markham III Barbara of Chesapeake and Wade Markham and wife Kathy of Hudson, OH; four grandchildren, Steve, Kelly, Nicholas and Jordan; and a host of very dear friends. Mr. Markham was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by all. Graveside services will be held at Old Hollywood Cemetery, Elizabeth City on Tuesday at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake on Monday from 7:00 until 8:30 pm.
