Obituary of Robert Brooks

Robert M. Brooks Moyock, NC ‘ Robert Millard Brooks, 64, of the 100 block of Launch Landing Road, died April 17, 2005 at his residence. He was born in Norfolk to the late Leon Orlando Brooks and the late Helen Shaw Vance. He was a veteran, having served in the US Army. Mr. Brooks was a retired press operator at the Virginian Pilot, a musician who loved playing the flute, and a craftsman, who enjoyed making classical wood flutes and building boats. He was a member of the Pasquotank River Yacht Club and enjoyed sailing. Mr. Brooks was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Brooks Grove. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Laura Munden Brooks; daughter, Katherine Brooks Freed of Virginia Beach; son, Joseph McNeil Brooks of Virginia Beach; brother, Leon Orlando Brooks of Canton, OH; grandson, Alex McNeil Brooks; beloved canine companions, Sweetie and Muffin, and the late Penny, his loving canine friend for 15 years. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Colonial Chapel, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd. in Chesapeake on Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with funeral services immediately following.
