Obituary of Leonora Jones

EC JONES Camden, NC Leonora Burgess Jones, age 95, died Friday, April 22, 2005 in Winslow Memorial Nursing Home. She born February 24, 1910, to Nora Dozier and Nathan Gregory Burgess, and was the widow of Luther R. Jones. She was a life long resident of Camden County. Mrs. Jones was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Camden Chapter #252 Order of the Eastern Star, presently Indian Ridge Chapter # 319. She is remembered for her work as a hostess at Albemarle Hospital for 23 years. She is survived by one daughter, Helen J. McPherson of Camden, NC; two grandsons, Dane F. McPherson and his wife Julia of Manteo, NC, and Jeffrey A. McPherson and his wife Liz of Camden, NC; five great grandchildren, Casey and Brady McPherson of Manteo, NC, Jennifer McPherson of Reno, NV, Fischer and Allison McPherson of Camden, NC. A funeral service will be Sunday, April 24, 2005, at 5:00 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, with the Rev. Dave Combs officiating. Eastern Star Rites will be conducted by Indian Ridge Chapter #319. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral home immediately following the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of her daughters, Helen McPherson, 237 South 343, Camden, NC.
