Obituary of Betty Ward

EC WARD Elizabeth City, NC Mrs. Betty Lou Bray Ward, age 66, of 111 Kelly Drive, Elizabeth City, NC died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Mrs. Ward was born in Camden County, NC, the daughter of the late Claude and Lillie Bray and was the wife of Haywood ‘Gene’ Ward of the residence. She was a nurse’s aide with Harbor’s Edge and a member of St. Paul’s Freewill Baptist Church. Besides her husband, Mrs. Ward is survived by one son, Glenn Byrum and wife, Connie, of Elizabeth City, NC; one step-daughter, Johnnie Sue Whittaker of Chesapeake, VA; two step-sons, Haywood Eugene Ward, Jr. of Elizabeth City, NC and Haywood Glenn Ward of Abilene, TX; two grandchildren, Chad and Samantha Byrum; six step-grandchildren, Sherman and Sarah Whittaker, Michael, Frankie, Roxie, and H.E. Ward; two-step great grandchildren, Madison and Michael Ward. She was predeceased by a son, Albert Wayne Byrum. A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 24, 2005, at 2:00 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, with the Rev. Everette Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, and immediately following the service in the lobby of the funeral home.
