Obituary of Cora Twiford

MANTEO, NC CORA GRAY TWIFORD, 85, of Manteo, died, Saturday, April 23, 2005, in her residence. Mrs. Twiford was born in Washington County, and was a homemaker. She had previously worked as a telephone operator for 15 years and was a member of the cast of the Lost Colony for 22 years and a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church. Mrs. Twiford was the daughter of the late Jim and Carrie Ann Oliver Stillman and the wife of Milburn E. ‘Dick’ Twiford. Besides her husband surviving are two daughters: Debra Twiford Mueller and husband Art of Fuquay-Varina and Penny Twiford Craven and husband David of Raleigh, N.C.; Two sons: Roy Gray and wife Louise and M.E. ‘Buddy’ Twiford and wife Winnie both of Manteo; two sisters: Madlean Noyes and Ann Hilton and husband Frank, two brothers: Eddie Stillman and James Stillman and wife Pat and sister-in-law Louise Stillman, eight grandchildren: Michelle Gray Johnson and husband Scott, E. W. Gray, Sherr’ee Twiford, Whitney Twiford, Joshua Craven, Molly Craven, Lauren Mueller and Arthur Mueller and two great-granchildren. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. in Twiford’s Colony Chapel by the Rev. Jerry Cribb. Burial will follow in Manteo Cemetery. Friends may join the family at Twiford Funeral Home Monday, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to Dare Social Services or Dare Home Health and Hospice both at P.O. Box 1000, Manteo, N.C. 27954. Twiford’s Colony Chapel is assisting the family.
