Obituary of Cecil B. Lyon

KILL DEVIL HILLS, NC CECIL BERNARD LYON, 82, of Kill Devil Hills, NC died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at his residence. Mr. Lyon, born in Clarksburg, WV, was a Car Service Agent for Chessie Railroad System, and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He helped with the organization of the Kitty Hawk Youth Baseball League in the 80’s and 90’s and was involved with the Big Band Preservation Society. Mr. Lyon was the son of the late Vernon Arthur and Bessie Frush Lyon. Mr. Lyon is survived by his wife, Betty Ward Lyon of the residence; two daughters, Melony Lynne Sillis and Melissa Lee Wright, both of Southern Shores, NC; two sons, Jeffrey Vernon Lyon of Lakeville, IN and Roger Carder Lyon of Columbia, SC; a sister, Margaret Jane Rhoads of Mt. Vernon, OH; a brother, Carl Vernon Lyon of Gainsville, VA; nine grandchildren, Brenda Lowe, Steven Sillis, Christopher Sillis, Jason Dohrman, Shannon Dohrman, Lindsey Wright, Breanna Lyon, Christy Thomas and Tray Lyon; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 5:30 pm at the Hayman St. Beach Access, Kill Devil Hills, NC. Following the service, family and friends will be received at 230 Hillcrest St., Southern Shores. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dare County Hospice, POB 1000, Manteo, NC 27954. Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements.
