Obituary of Bonnie Lee Hobbs
Bonnie Lee Hobbs, 92, of 1110 N. Road Street, Elizabeth City died Friday, April 29, 2005, in the Albemarle Hospital. He was born in Hobbsville, NC to the late Rufus Lee Hobbs and Thomas Christian Blanchard Hobbs. Mr. Hobbs was retired from the U. S. Army having served in World War II, a faithful member of the Fountain of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was the Church Sunday School’s Secretary for 25 years and a member of the Men’s Fellowship. Mr. Hobbs also was a former employee of Perry Paint and Glass Company as a glazier for 20 years and a former employee of Forbes Mobile Home.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Byrum Hobbs; a daughter, Renee H. Jones of Elizabeth City, NC; a son, Randy Lee Hobbs of Hampton, VA; two sisters, Florence H. Harrell and husband, Earl of Portsmouth, VA and Reba H. Price and husband, John of Chesapeake, VA; one granddaughter, Courtney R. Jones of Elizabeth City, NC. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Rebecca Pearl Hoffler Hobbs, a sister, Leslie Mae Hobbs; four brothers, Hobart Preston Hobbs, Jessie Able ‘Pat’ Hobbs, Thomas Evert ‘Jimmy’ Hobbs, and Rufus Phillip Hobbs; and a grandson, William Christopher Jones.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 1, 2005, at 3:00pm in the Fountain of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, US 17South, Elizabeth City by Rev. Bill Mayo and Mr. Randy Hobbs. Burial will follow in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by VFW Post #6060. The family will receive friends and relatives at Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E.
