Obituary of Cora Breeden

CORA HILL BREEDEN, 89, of 202 West Burgess St. Elizabeth City, NC died Saturday May 7, 2005 at the residence of her daughter in Durham, NC surrounded by all of her children. She was a native of Pasquotank County, daughter of the late Willie Lawrence and Hattie Hurtle Hill, and the widow of Willie Roy Breeden, Sr. She was a member of Berea Baptist Church where she was a former Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, a Youth Leader and Adult Choir Member. Mrs. Breeden was also a member of the Matoaca Council # 10 Degree of Pocahontas where she served as Past Pocahontas.
She is survived by: two daughters Corette Breeden Parker of Durham, NC, and Babette Breeden Alderman of Newberry, SC; three sons Willie Roy Breeden, Jr. of Gloucester Point, VA, Douglas MacArthur Breeden of Lancaster, SC and James Hill Breeden, Sr. of Louisville, TN; one sister Willie Mae Hill Sawyer of Camden, NC; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by two children, Clarine Breeden and Howard Curtis Breeden, and two sisters, Inez Hill Willey and Myrtle Hill Temple.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday May 10, 2005 at 2:00 o’clock in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church St., Elizabeth City, NC by Revs. Roger Stanley and Glenn Greenway. Burial will follow in Old Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening at the Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:00 o’clock.
