Obituary of John Yunker

EC YUNKER Elizabeth City, NC John Russell Yunker, CWO4, Retired US Coast Guard, age 68, of 1029 Simpson Ditch Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at his residence. He was a native of Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late John Joseph Yunker and Anna Manalovich Yunker, and was husband of Dona Whitehead Yunker of the residence. Mr. Yunker was retired with the US Coast Guard, with of 30 years service, and was a Catholic. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, CPOA, VFW, the American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Lisa Yunker White and her husband, Mike of Hertford, NC; one sister, Janice Ostermeyer of Bethel Park, PA; two grandchildren, Shelby and Abby White. He was predeceased by one sister, Mary Ann Taylor. A funeral service with Military Honors, will be Sunday, May 22, 2005, at 5:00 PM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, with the Very Rev. James Buchholz, V.F. officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends in the lobby of the funeral home immediately following the service. At other times the family will be at the residence, 1029 Simpson Ditch Road.
