Obituary of Robert L. “Bobby” Sawyer

Robert L. ‘Bobby’ Sawyer, 72, of 408 New York Ave., Elizabeth City, NC died Saturday, May 21, 2005. He was born in Elizabeth City and was the son of the late Van Waco Sawyer and Doris Lane Manos. Mr. Sawyer was the widower of the late Polly Crabtree Sawyer. He was a retired civil service employee and was the former owner/operator of the Circle Restaurant, a member of the First Christian Church and the V.F.W. Post #6060. Mr. Sawyer was an U. S. Army veteran. He is survived by two sons, Larry Robert Sawyer and wife Mandy of Raleigh, NC and Garry Louis Sawyer and wife Tracy of Stephens City, VA, one brother, Van Waco Sawyer, Jr. of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Sam Sawyer, Brady Sawyer both of Raleigh, NC and Ashley Sawyer of Stephens City, VA. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at 1:00pm in the Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, Church Street, by Revs. Kelly Lacy and Michael Barnes. Burial will follow in the New Hollywood Cemetery with military honors by V.F.W. Post #6060. The family will receive friends and relatives at Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E.
