Obituary of R. Larry Forbes

R. LARRY FORBES RETIRED FARMER & NCDMV OFFICIER Our devoted and loving husband and father, R. Larry Forbes, age 66, of 804 Sandy Hook Road, Shiloh, NC passed away on June 1, 2005. He was born in Pasquotank County, NC and was a lifelong resident of Camden County, NC. He was the son of Jerry Wilcox Forbes of Cary, NC and the late J. Wilbert Forbes. Mr. Forbes was the dedicated husband of Iredell Sawyer Forbes of Shiloh, NC for over 45 years. He was a proud graduate and active alumnus of NC Sate University. He was active in the community in a variety ways. He served as a board member for Albemarle Academy, a member of the Ruritan Club and Hall Lodge #53 AF & AM as well as a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He contributed to the community as a farmer and NCDMV Enforcement Section Officer, having retired from both. Never one to sit still for long, he continued to served by carrying out the duties of bailiff for the Camden County Sheriff Dept. Mr. Forbes is survived by his wife, Iredell, his mother Jerry and three daughters, Lou Anne F. Bauman and husband, Mark, of Wake Forest, NC, Karen F. Kidd and husband, Kevin (Randy), of Shawboro, NC and Ellen F. Ferrell and husband, David, of Shawboro, NC; two sons, L. Allen Forbes and wife, Helen, of Garner, NC and Jerry W. Forbes and wife, Jennifer, of Shawboro, NC. He is also survived by two sisters, Marie F. Davis and husband, Mack of Cary, NC and Ida F. Riddick and husband, Sidney of Matthews, NC; ten grandchildren, Gregory, Bryan, John, Branson, Jaylyn, Jacob, Aiden, Andrew, Megan and Summer; three aunts, Anne W. Sanderlin of Elizabeth City, NC, Elsie F. Douglas of Maryland and Lavinia F. Staples of Shiloh, NC and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 4, 2005, at 11:00am in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, Church St., by Rev. Dave Combs. Mr. Michael A. Pritchard will orate the eulogy. Entombment will follow in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home Friday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 and at other times at their residence, 804 Sandy Hook Road, Shiloh, NC.
