Obituary of John Maheu

John C. Maheu Chesapeake ‘ Commander John Chaisson Maheu USN, Retired, 65, died June 1, 2005. Mr. Maheu was born in Waterville, ME to the late Francis Neal Maheu and Molly Desveaux Maheu. He was a veteran having served in the US Navy for over 24 years as a pilot. A 1962 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, he received his wings in 1963 and earned his MBA from George Washington University in 1971. Mr. Maheu was a member of Great Bridge United Methodist Church and the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association. He loved giving back to his community and was an active member of the Citizens for the Preservation of Rural Chesapeake and the Hickory Ruritan Club, where he was currently serving as President. He was, also, the current secretary for the Abraham Lincoln Chapter of the National Association for Uniformed Services. Mr. Maheu was pre-deceased by his parents, his sister, Jo Raleigh and his brother Jerry Maheu. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Anne Howell Maheu; daughter, Suzanne Maheu of Stafford, VA; three sons, Greg Maheu and wife Linda of Powhatan, VA, Doug Maheu and wife Andrea of Annandale, VA and John Paul Maheu and his soul mate, Dierdre Swann of Stafford, VA; five grandchildren, Bryan, Gregory, Sabrina, Courtney, and Chaisson. Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 6 at 1:00 pm at Great Bridge United Methodist Church with Dr. James Driscoll and Rev. Pamela Gable officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Waterville Area Humane Society located at 120 Drummond Avenue, Waterville, ME 04901.
