Obituary of Anne Simmons

EC SIMMONS Anne O’Neal Simmons Native of Hyde County, NC Anne O’Neal Simmons, 85, a former resident of Willow Grove, PA and Elizabeth City, NC died Friday June 3, 2005 at the Guardian Care Nursing Home. Mrs. Simmons was born December 21, 1919 in Hyde County, Fairfield, NC and was the daughter of the late Major and Nancy Gibbs O’Neal. She was a member of the Pearl Street Pentecostal Holiness Church and a former nurse in Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington, PA for 18 years. Survivors include, one sister Laura Sanderlin of Elizabeth City, NC; two brothers, Major O’Neal of Roper, NC and Melvin O’Neal of Hertford, NC; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grand-child and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester L. Simmons, on September 22, 2004; two daughters Linda S. Ellis and Joyce S. Simpson; and two sisters, Lula Todd and Eva Gurganus. A funeral service will be held Monday June 6, 2005 at 2:00 P. M. at the Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC with the Rev. W. P. Rembert officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will join friends following the funeral service in the funeral home lobby and other times at the home of her niece Judy Todd White, 124 Olivet Circle, Elizabeth City.
