Resident of Moyock, NC
In loving memory of a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Deanna Evans (Crank), age 62, went to heaven after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Moyock and lived there all of her life where she made many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Crank of Elizabeth City, NC, and Essie Stone of Moyock, NC. She was adopted at age ten to Richard and Myrtle Evans of Moyock, NC, and became family to all the Evans on Tull’s Creek.
She attended schools in Currituck and Massachusetts, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth, VA. Through the years she has worked at H. P. Morgan Accountants, Currituck County School Food Services, and for the past twenty-five years at St. Brides Correctional Center as Personnel Assistant, where she has many, many good and dedicated friends who are ‘like family.’ A special thanks to Alice Loveland, a co-worker and very special friend, for all her help and support.
Ms Evans is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Ward Pollock and husband George; a son Haywood Ward, Jr.; four grandchildren, Jonathon Pittman and fianc Jamie Hamrick of Moyock, NC, Wallace Danielé"" Pittman and fianc Kelsie Balance of Raleigh, NC, Haywood E. Ward III of Elizabeth City, NC, and Celia Rife of the residence.
Ms Evans is survived eight sisters, Marie Deitch of Venice, FL, Joyce Sorey and Clarie Mae Broome of Chesapeake, VA, Erleen Rourke of Baton Rouge, LA, Doris Collens of Pontotoc, MS, Pauline Stone of Moyock, NC, Mildred Babb and Gerldine Offuitt of Madisonville, KY; ten brothers, Norman Sprague of Wituca Church, VA, Hubert Stone and Lawrence Stone of Camden, NC, Raymond Stone, Garland Stone and Gordon Stone of Moyock, NC, Elwood Stone of Belhaven, NC, Jessie Stone of Virginia Beach, VA, Lee Stone of Madisonville, KY; many nieces, nephews, cousins and kin all over. She was preceded in death by two brothers, David Stone and Doyle Stone. Ms Evans has been blessed with lots of family and friends throughout her life. She will be missed and always remembered as a loving caregiver.

Funeral services will be at Twifords Memorial Chapel, Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 2:00 with the Rev. Charles Wellons officiating. Burial will follow in Moyock Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and at other times at the residence, 181 Johnson Lane, Moyock, NC.
Also a special thank you for all the Doctors, Hospice, Home Health Care and Social Services for all your care; especially Stacey Jennette of Hospice. Thank you for all of your support and cards, visits, calls, and prayers for the past few months: Ité''s been special to Mama and will always be remembered.
