Obituary of William Ireland

J. William Ireland, died June 21, 2005. He was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on Sept. 11, 1924. Upon graduating from Mishawaka High School, he served four years in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy, he graduated from Michigan State University in 1951 with a degree in landscape architecture and urban planning. He spent most of his career in Urban Planning and Development. Before his retirement, he was Executive Director of the Re-development Authority of Clinton County, PA. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn, four children and their spouses: Jennifer and husband Bryan White of Houston, TX, Daniel and wife Susan of New Cumberland, PA, Michael and wife Mindy of Nashville, TN and Todd and wife Lisa of Pittsburgh, PA. He was the proud grandfather of six grandsons: Timothy, Sean, Jarrod, Brennan, Conor and Aidan. He is also survived by two brothers. Services will be held at Colington United Methodist Church in Colington, NC on Saturday, June 25 at 11:00 AM with The Reverend Teresa Holloway and The Reverend Robert Pitsch officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colington United Methodist Church P.O. Box 3425, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948 and the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216. Twiford’s Funeral Home, Manteo, is assisting the family with these arrangements.
