Lawrence ‘L.C.’ Askew

Lawrence ‘L.C.’ Askew, 76, of 1017 Kris Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Saturday, June 25, 2005 at Albemarle Hospital. He was born in North Hampton County, NC, son of the late Elton W. Askew, Sr. and Gladys Cook Askew and was the husband of 52 years to Ethel Martin Askew of the residence. He was a retired state highway inspector of 42 years, a member of the Eureka Lodge #317 AF & AM, and was a baptist. Mr. Askew was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and was well known and respected throughout the community, and will be greatly missed.
Besides his wife, Mr. Askew is survived by a daughter, Teresa Askew of Portsmouth, VA; two sons, Tim Askew and wife Karen of Elizabeth City, NC, and Dean Askew and wife Kim of Leesburg, VA; a brother, Elton W. Askew, Jr. and wife Sandra of Edenton, NC; and five grandchildren, Christie, Daniel, Drew, Amy, and Ryan Askew.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 11:00 am in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Greenway officiating. Entombment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Monday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
