Obituary of Ernestine Spencer

ERNESTINE LEE THRASH SPENCER, 53, of Manteo, NC died Sunday, July 3, 2005 at the Outer Banks Hospital. Mrs. Spencer, born in Manteo, worked for the Dare County School System as a Child Nutritionist at Manteo High School. She was a member of Haven Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was the daughter of Thelma Mae Meekins Thrash of Manteo and the late Ernest Lee Thrash. Mrs. Spencer is survived by her husband, Ellis Levi Spencer of the residence; a daughter, Nichol Yvonne Thrash of Manteo, NC; a son, Cornelius Ray Thrash of Manteo, NC; step-daughters, Norvelle Howard and Karita Howard, both of Greenville, NC; three sisters, Ella Simmons and husband, Delton of Manteo, NC, Jannie Estelle Spencer and husband, Prentiss of Manteo, NC, and Olivia McLemore of Virginia Beach, VA; three brothers, John Meekins of Currituck, NC, Michael Thrash of Manteo, NC, and Henry Thrash of Germany; one granddaughter, Jazmin Evon Thrash of Manteo, NC, three step-grandchildren, Kisean O’Neal and Koryara Howard, and Olliana Howard, all of Greenville, NC. Funeral services will be held at Haven Creek Missionary Baptist Church on Friday, July 8, 2005 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Lonell Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and at other times at the residence. Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements.
