Obituary of Loranzy Gaskins
LORANZY WILLIS GASKINS, 82, of Frisco, NC died Friday, July 1, 2005 at his residence. Born at Hatteras, he served as an officer in the U. S. Navy for 22 years until he retired and returned to live at Hatteras. He visited almost every port in the world during his naval career, but he loved Hatteras best of all. He was proud to be a fisherman for the last 44 years of his life. He continued throughout his life to possess a tremendous knowledge of the world, and of all political and military affairs. He was known to everyone as ‘Ranzy’.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Eula R. Gaskins, his brother, Herman Gaskins and his wife, Daisy, and his sister, Zelphia Moscardini.
He is survived by his sons, Johnny S. Gaskins of Raleigh, NC, David T. Gaskins and wife, Myra of St. Augustine, FL, Raymond M. Gaskins of Kill Devil Hills, NC; his daughter, Barbara J. Hendricks of Frisco, NC; his step-daughter, Sandra E. Porter of Ft. Myers, FL; his step-son Roger L. Sutton and wife, Agnes of St. Augustine, FL; his sister, Salina Farrow of Frisco, NC; his half-sister, Irene Basnett and husband, Wayne; his half-brother, Lindsey Gaskins and wife, Margaret; his brother-in-law, Walter Edward Moscardini; his nephew, Douglas ‘Chubby’ Dorris; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many friends who will miss him, and who are better people for having known him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
