Obituary of Myrtice Payton

EC Payton Myrtice Ritcherson Payton Resident of Pasquotank County, NC Myrtice Ritcherson Payton, 73, of 1040 Traci Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Albemarle Hospital. She was born in Columbus, GA; daughter of the late Grady and Bessie Cook Ritcherson and the wife of 48 years to the late James Rudolph Payton. She was a proud Navy wife for 22 ‘ years, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, and loved gardening. Mrs. Payton is survived by three daughters, Brenda Woollard and husband Robert of Surry, VA, Tammy Rickman of Jacksonville, FL, and Melissa ‘Lisa’ Payton of Elizabeth City, NC; two sons, Tim Deese and wife Karen of Jacksonville, Fl, and Bill Ballentine and wife Beth of Elizabeth City, NC; three sisters, Kathryn McCaw of Loxley, AL, Edna Brooks, and Betty Ashmore both of Phoenix City, Al; nine grandchildren, Melanie, Ashleigh, Beth, Beverlee, Jamie, Jeremy, Amanda, Travis, and Jake and four great grandchildren, Kenny, Tyler, Jayden, and Addyson. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 8, 2005 at 2:00 in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Aaron Pendley. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
