Obituary of Gerald Chesteen

Manteo, NC Gerald Chesteen, 69, of Manteo, NC died Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at his residence. Born in Dillon, SC, he was the son of the late Sterling Rigsby and the late Aline Chesteen Johnson. Mr. Chesteen was a commercial fisherman and a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Gail Chesteen. Mr. Chesteen is survived by his wife, Sarafina Elizabeth Chesteen of the residence; a daughter, Sue Chesteen of Manteo, NC; a sister, Vivian Ottis of Davison, MI; two brothers, Arthur Roberts of Hillman, MI and Woodrow Roberts of Flint, MI; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at 11:00 am with Pastor Steve Crews officiating. Entombment will be in the Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements.
