Obituary of Dempsey Burgess

EC BURGESS Shiloh, NC Dempsey Dennis Burgess, Jr., age 43, of 858 Highway 343 South, Shiloh, NC, died Friday, July 22, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Burgess was born in Pasquotank County, NC, the son of Dempsey Dennis Burgess, Sr. and Ruth Ann Rupert Burgess of Shiloh, NC and was the husband of Christina ‘Chrissy’ Hilbert Burgess of the residence. He was an avionics technician, a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, active in the Boy Scouts of America, an active volunteer in the Baptist Church Camp. He was a Chartered Organization Representative for Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 158, where as a youth he was a member of those units. Two years ago, he was awarded Scout of the year. Mr. Burgess was truly a cornerstone and always giving and helpful with the Baptist Youth Camps helping in computers and sound systems. Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Burgess is survived by one son, Dennis Burgess III of Shiloh, NC; one step-daughter, Katelyn Hilbert of Shiloh, NC; and two sisters, Janet Bigney of Rodanthe, NC and Jackie Cameron of Clarksville, TN. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at 11:00 AM in Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. David Combs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, July 25, 2005, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel and other times at the residence.
