Obituary of Robert Chambers, Sr.

EC CHAMBERS Chesapeake, VA Robert William Chambers, Sr., age 88 of 2720 Town House Lane, Chesapeake, VA, died Sunday, August 21, 2005 in Sentara Village Chesapeake. Born September 14, 1916 in Pasquotank County, NC, he was son the late Ellis and Cassie Stephenson Chambers, and the widower of Fannie Marie Deal Chambers who died September 26, 1992. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II, and a retired welder with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Mr. Chambers is survived by one daughter, Sharon C. Bailey and her husband Robert, one son Robert Chambers, Jr. and his wife Judith, all of Chesapeake, VA; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at 11:00 AM in Highland Park Cemetery, Elizabeth City, NC, with the Rev. Mason Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC.
