Obituary of Debra Lanning

Nags Head Debra Gaffin Lanning, 52, died Monday, August 29, 2005 at Britthaven of the Outer Banks in Nags Head. Ms. Lanning was born in Hartford, CT and was a sub-contractor in the construction business. She was a graduate of Conrad High School in West Hartford, CT, attended Ringling School of Art in Florida and was a long-time resident of Nags Head. Ms. Lanning was the daughter of William and Nancy Johnson Gaffin of Windsor, CT. Besides her parents, she is survived by one daughter, Sonny ‘Sonia’ Lanning of Nags Head; four step-daughters; Crystal Lanning of Nags Head, Cindy Perkins of Ohio, Candy Lanning and Shawn Enis, both of Nags Head; two sisters, Pam Gaffin of the US Virgin Islands and Lynda Nickel of Loveland, CO; one brother, Jeff Gaffin of Seattle, WA, five step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; her former husband, Albert Lee Lanning of Nags Head. A memorial service will be held at Britthaven of the Outer Banks on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Daniels officiating. Another memorial service will be held near Jennette’s Pier on the beach and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Britthaven of the Outer Banks, 430 W. Health Center Drive, Nags Head, NC 27959 or Albemarle Hospice, 311 Cedar Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909. Twifords Funeral Home, Manteo, is assisting the family with these arrangements.
